Default Convertible Latch Rattling

I sent my S for a few knicks and scratches removal on the front bumper to a local body shop. When I got my car back, I noticed rattling on the driver side latch. Then I noticed wind noise coming from the top. The day I got it back, I was leaving for a vacation so, I did not have time to take a good look at it. I am still on vacation but from what I saw, the latch is not latching tight enough which allows wind noise as well as rattling. What do you think it is? I know it is not related to what was done to the car but perhaps, the body shop decided to put the top down and did it incorrectly. Hopefully, it's all a matter of tightening up some screws. Give me you opinions so, that I can deal with it better when I get back from vacation. Thanks in advance.

The timing of this issue to too coincidental with the work that was done. I think they tried to use the top and did something stupid, like maybe operating it BEFORE they unlatched it. They may have pulled something loose or possibly broke something. Check to see of the striker plates on the windshield header is loose. If they are, you might be able to remove the interior trim and tighten those plate screws (use some locktite). If the top latches are stretched, you may be in for a costly replacement.

BTW: There is a TSB out for the roof latches not latching tight and causing wind noise between the top of the windshield and the roofline. They replace the latches with hardtop latches. I had this issue, it has yet to return since the replacement.

Problem is, now the latches have begun rattling...no wind noise, and they seem tight, just noisy.

I had the same problem, when I bought my car used with 13K the latched in the windshield frame were worn. Take a look at where the hook of the top actually catches or grabs on the latch. On mine the metal was worn away from tension and vibration? A temporary fix was to slide some rubber tubing over the hook increasing it's diameter enough to compensate for the worn metal. The dealer replace both my work latches at no cost. I am at 27k now with no problem.
