Conn rod hit oil pan?
I found a local S2k with 70k miles on it in seemingly perfect condition except the previous owner says that the rear 2 conn rods hit the oil pan. Supposedly all it needs to run again is 2 new rods and a oil pan.
I am not familiar with s2k's or honda's in general but I do all of my own wrenching on my built Porsche turbo so pulling a engine and replacing those would be no sweat.
So what do you guys think? Possible one of the caps came loose and failed and that's it or should I stay away because it probably needs the whole bottom end replaced.
Thanks

suspicious that half of the engine's connecting rods fail and the owner says "all it needs to run again is 2 new rods and a oil pan." anyone that knows engines knows that that requires major work.

If it broke 2 rods, chances are the cylinder head is is also screwed. The pistons like to beat the chamber up when they become disconnected from the rod.
Run away from it.

Thank most of you for your input. I decided to buy it and a new engine off ebay and replaced and then turned around and sold it. Got the car for 3k, engine for $3500. I am shocked at how cheap parts are for it.
I really would like to get in a S2000 as a daily driver (mainly because chips are more expensive then parts, and the gas mileage is very nice), but want to find one that has been better kept and have a good history. This one was a lot worse off then the picture made it look, I am not even sure it was the same car ha.
Thanks again guys, hopefully I will find a more suitable one soon and visit this nice forum more often.
