Don't BTCC touring cars make 300HP out of 2.0 liter engine.

And 303 HP = 145 lbs*ft * 11000 revs/minute * 1/5252

265 RWHP doesn't sound all that unreasonable.

Compression is also raised on the Spoon F20C.

I'm pretty sure BTCC cars have a mandatory 8500rpm rev limit.

The interesting thing is that Honda didn't want this engine to have more power. The power of the engine was made for the weight of the vehicle. The original pre-production S2000 came in 220lbs heavier than expected, so the engine was re-tuned (adding HP) to give the car the performance they were looking for.

I find it extremely hard to believe that Honda couldn't have made the F20C 265 HP in the first place, the fact that a tuner with no vehicle dynamics or engineering road-blocks like "durability" and "cost effectiveness" came up with a way is not hard to believe at all.

Keep in mind that the original F20C had a 10K redline as well, re-tuned, I'll bet one could take advantage of those extra RPM's as well as in the usual areas.

Not so good example since they use V6 engines and their HP is limited to 270 by regulation.

Here is a better example

So let me get this straight, the spoon motor puts 265 to the wheels and does not even utilize aftermarket cams. or is that number with their new cams that are suppossed to be out soon. either way, it does not sound unreasonable. only question is that if it will run on 91 octane without detonating.

I have to disagree with just about everyone here (sorry hah hah.) Having done alot of research on the F20C motor, I believe that it is possible to get 265 rwhp with out any sort of bore/stroke change. Changing the compression alone (I believe 12.5:1?) will result in significant gains, let alone a higher redline, fuel tuning and ignition timing control (those things alone would bring you to 230-240) improved exhaust, intake, and cams? Also, they have changed the valves out (right?) so there was some sort of head work done on it.. It's definetly possible to get 265 rwhp.

Another thing that I haven't seen anyone mention here is balancing and blueprinting, which can gain a significant amount of power. You can balance the crank, rods, wrist pins, pistons, also you can balance the clutch disk, pressure plate, and flywheel assembly.

265+ hp is definetly possible NA in 2 liters, and more is possible from a stroker kit (I was quoted $4200 including rods, pistons, and crank for a stroker kit)

Chris
