Comptech Strut Bar

It is more typical that they DO rub, than they do not rub. Same goes with their intake. For me that is COMPLETELY unacceptable... but they just laugh at you and tell you it is your installation error. I have installed 3 of these... not to mention reinstalling mine a couple of times for suspension changes... and every one rubs.
If you are worried about the damage, just remove the hood liner. The underside paint will get scratched a little, but NOT BAD. When you are ready to sell the car just reattach the liner and voila... no scratches.
That being said... the shock tower bar is only really good for one thing... A place to put your hand when working on the engine! If you bought it for performance you will be disappointed. You should have spent your money on an XBrace.

Both CT items run the hood. Personally I left the liner inplace. It is cheaper to replace the liner then repaint the hood. It rubs the hood when the liner is removed, Atleast it did mine.
I did however notice a differance when I isntalled it. I installed it first than an X-Brace a few months later. I have removed it and left the X-brace isntalled and I could tell no differance. I still reinstalled.
1. Looks good
2. Place to put hands when you work in the engine
3. It is polished, and looks good

Ok. So it's common for it to rub. Here is what I did.
I loosened all the bolts on the mount and bar. Then I rotated the bar back towards the windshield as far as I could, about 3/4" from where it was before. It has not made an impression on the hood liner this time. Reason is the hood line continues to rise as you move back toward the windshield. It is just enough to not hit or very minimally. It still does not hit the intake. I'm still not happy with this. I may modify it.
I already have the Rick's X-Brace, it made a difference you can really feel. I wanted the stut bar to make it as stiff as possible.
Any luck with any other strut bars as far as clearance and function?
