Default Comptech Strut Bar

Installed a Comptech Titanium Strut Bar ... had to muscle it on.

Hood closes but not as easy as before install. Have to drop from higher point.

It may possibly be contacting insulation under the hood.

Worried this may crease the hood.

Anybody with this bar have this problem?

Seems alot of the new Comptech bars have this problem.....

No need to muscle it on. All you need to do is jack up one side of the car and push one shock down a little.

Thanx billman ...

For those that have had the problem, was it correctable?

If not, did it cause damage to the hood over time?

You might ask BFAmazon35 (John) he had the Comptech Ti bar and had difficulty with the hood closing. He ended up buying an old style Comptech bar.
His seemed worse than yours though, he couldn't even get the hood to close with a drop. Had to push it down. I don't know if he had any lasting effects.

I had a problem with mine. Funny thing is on some cars it just fits perfect. After fiddling with the hood, hood latch and hood bumpers i still had to cut some of the liner on the hood away. It worked okay after that but but I ended up selling it.

I appreciate all your comments ... thanx.

Right now it appears it is just slightly contacting the hood liner as I see markings on the liner from the bar. That said, I dont believe this would damage or crease the hood and an adjustment of the latch may help with an easier "drop" closing.

The other thought would be to shave some material off of the mounts on each end of the bar ...

Perhaps I try contacting Comptech directly ... someone pm'd me to talk to Shad.

Again, thanx to all that responded.
