ESM as in electronic signal modifier?? I've been working with Prada on this pain in the ass for the last couple days. Help!

It sounds like you have an electronic problem. When you pulled the AEM EMS and put the OEM ECU back, did you also put the Comptech ESM back on? You must also look at all the wiring that got removed, re-spliced and re-attached.

And yes, get the Comptech manual and go through it step by step. For your convenience, here it is:

However, you must still get the ESM wiring diagram, which is not included in the link I just provided.

ps. Usually with a higher boost pulley, the fuel pressure is turned UP on the Comptech regulator. You must figure how much it was bumped up and now turn it down to suit the stock Comptech boost.
What is the Comptech ESM, where can I find it in the car, and where can I find the wiring instructions for it?? Thanks again for all of ur help!!

The ESM comes with the stock Comptech kit. I'll bet when your set-up got "upgraded", the ESM got pitched. Wires had to be spliced and cut to put the ESM on and they were altered again when the AEM went on. There may be wires that are still cut. This is most likely why your car doesn't run too good.
I suppose you can get a new ESM from Comptech or go after the guy you bought the car from to find it for you AND give you the hard copy of the Comptech manual, which will contain the wiring diagram for all the electronics.

Sweet!! Thanks a lot. Xviper, I am betting my Evo on the exact same thing. Most of the old parts *cough* injectors clips *cough* got tossed as well. There are a few cut wires in there that we found.

I should have mentioned. You don't really need the ESM for the car to run. It's just a MAP clamp that hides boost from the ECU, so it's needed when you get into boost. I have a feeling that some wires are still not connected correctly when the stock ECU went back in. Also, is the ECU you put back in, the ORIGINAL ECU that came out of that car? (I'm thinking key recognition but since you say it did start, I guess this point is irrelevent - just thinking out loud.)

I also thought about the immobilizer but this is in fact the original ECU. There are a few wires that have been cut and were soldered back together but we are unsure if they were done properly or not.

Until you get the ESM, don't run the car over about 5000 rpm (once you get it running). I think you should concentrate on the wiring - both in the efficacy of the connections and on the right wire to wire connections. I recall with the Vortech, some wires are colored very close to each other and under the dash like that, it's easy to get two colors looking the same.

So the car should start without the ESM??? I figured that the car wouldnt run at all without the ESM??? I will also however go through and check all of the wiring, but I dont think I am going to try and start the car again until I install the Comptech EMS. Thanks again.
