Default Comptech S/C Air Filter Replacemnt

The "foam like" comptech filter was really dirty and I didn't have that uni filter cleaner on hand. The one thing I hate about it is the uni filter cleaner stuff has to be ordered and you can't just run to the store and get it. Besides, I still kinda prefer the paper like K&N filters.

I found my OEM Factory Airbox and decided to just use that instead. Works just fine since I barely put any miles on it. The butt--dyno feels an improvement Like the brand new car feeling again. LOL

I still need the measurements for the AFE-Filter or the K&N one if anyone has it.

Here's some pictures. Enjoy!

Ditto Asura. If it was me, I'd seal that shit up. Maybe even add a hose and push the filter farther down.

You guys do have a point. My question is, will it mess up my car to the extent that this lil hole is going strain my car and blow up...? If that's the case, i'll put the comptech filter back on.

It's not like my car is slow either. loosing 1HP or 2HP isn't bad for a temporary fix until i get the uni cleaner stuff or an AFE/K&N Filter

thanks for your responses,

P.J.

No Phil, your car won't blow up! I agree, a few horses = no big deal. I would seal it up, it's a cheap fix, and it lets you take full advantage of the intake layout. Drop a pipe in there and make it a real CAI . I guess you could throw some foil around it for now...

You turned a cold air intake into a hot air intake. Hot air is less dense, and will there for steall HP from you. This ia hp game right?

Nice work Swt. I actually prefer the OEM filter over the KN. May I suggest a neoprene mouse pad to seal the hole?

You can also use a K&N filter.

I found the correct filter replacement for the comptech s/c'er

AFE Filter, part# 20-55507

Modified Velocity Stack
Flange ID: 5-1/2 in (140 mm)
Base: 7 in (178 mm)
Top: 4-3/4 in (121 mm)
Height: 7 in (178 mm)

K/N Filter, part# RU-3060 (thanks Auss2000)

Can the AFE filter be cleaned/oiled using the K&N cleaning system?
