I am reading most s2k motors have around 210-230 across all cylinders from compression test.

My friend just did mine and the reading was 175-180 all across.

Reading is consistent, but what cause my reading lower than others?

Oh yea, I forgot to give more details.

The motor has 86k miles. AP1 MY02. The car was turbo'ed by previous owner. I am happy the reading is about the same all across, but I am trying to find out if anyone has experienced a compression this low.

Most peep are getting 210-230 reading, and I am only getting 175.

I just got a compression test last night, all 4 cylinders were 210-235 + or - 5 psi. It was probably the turbo that lowered compression. Not really sure what you can do if your compression is low...rebuild?

My friend who is a technical told me not to worry about it as long as the reading are around the same all across.

I feel my car is still running and vtec'ing strong, so not sure if I should do anything to it. I also track my car, so I want to make sure the motor is healthy.

Check to see if there's a thicker or multiple head gaskets. The old owner may have done that to lower his compression for his trubo. I agree with the others that having it balanced across all cylinders is most important, but if the head gasket is normal you likely have worn rings. Watch oil consumption, and do a leak-down test.

Thanks for advise Greg.

I think I will first watch my oil consumption before doing anymore mechanics work on it as it starts getting more expensive (I don't work on cars myself).
