135psi is the minimum limit. FSM states 228psi as nominal with 135psi being the minimum and 28psi being the maximum variation.

Alright, finally got a valve adjustment done! It was done stone cold and by a really good mechanic I highly recommend. Very knowledgeable, trustworthy and easy to deal with. As expected the suspect cylinder was very tight indeed. Idling has improved and the exhaust rhythm is very smooth. Will get compression & leakdown numbers when I can... but it seems like a tight valve was all it was!

His name is Ramon from Niguel Motors (949 348 2476). He is actually an NSX expert who has owned something like four NSXs already but that experience lends itself well to S2000s it seems. He makes his recommendations but will ultimately do what you are comfortable with. Got away with a valve adjustment rather than a full blown valve job if I listened to the first mechanic's opinion right away.

Thank you everyone for chiming in and sharing your prudent suggestions. I hope this thread will prove useful to many many more S2000 owners. I mean I dont wish anyone tight valves, sour compression results or over-zealous mechanics but you know what I mean
