Default Compression, leak down test, valve job in cold garage

I want to do a valve adjustment, compression and leakdown test on the S

Is it too cold to do in a NJ, not a heated garage ~40 deg?

1. afe to do the valve adjustment at those temps?

2. Also I can get the motor hot for the leakdown/comp. but will it cool off before i even finish?

I have done all this before so it shouldnt take me long, but will it be long enough for everything to get cold?

You want a cold motor for a VA. How cold is too cold? That I don't know but I'm pretty sure as long as you're comfortable to work you should be fine.

You want to remove the valve cover and all of the connectors while the motor is still warm. Otherwise, things like connectors are cold and brittle.

Compression and leak-down tests are suppose to be done when the engine is at normal operating temperatures. The valve adjustment should be done when the car is cold. That's why the dealerships have you leave the car overnight or bring it in the morning and allow it to cool.

Take it apart while hot. If you don't, you are almost guaranteed to break the lock tabs on the coil pack connectors. In addition, it is brutally difficult to take apart when it's cold.

I would:

-Pull it in hot, do your leakdown and comp.
-disassemble
-wait for engine to reach under 90 degrees, then adjust
