Default Cold (weather) starting issues...

We've been having pretty cold weather here lately (19-30 degrees when I go to work in the morning). In the morning when I try to crank it, it'll fire up then die after a second or two. Crank it again and it behaves normally. When I leave from work or if its warmer than say 35 it doesn't do it. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue and what to do about it...

Mine did that one day this week. I think that when you start it up in the morning, if you let off the clutch IMMEDIATELY, it will not die.

How many days in a row has this happened? If only a couple, it could be the ECU adjusting to the new climate. If more, could have a different problem.

I had it happen once when we had our snow "storm" and it was like 20. Cranked and died.

Now I realize that the revs at idle when I start are a lot higher than before but the car doesn't seem to struggle to stay on.

It very well could be the change in weather... it was in the 50's a week ago and i think the high today is supposed to be 37. IIRC last year when the weather changed suddenly, my WRX did the same kind of thing. I'll try letting out the clutch immediately after cranking and see if that helps.
thanks for the replies... i'm liking this forum more and more

My car sat outside for about 4 hours while the temp dropped in the high teens/low 20s. Car started ok...idled kinda weird at first. I sat in the parking lot for a while to get 2 bars-didn't hit 3 bars until a couple of miles on the interstate. No VTECing on the on ramp. Got her back home in the warm garage out of the elements. It was cold in Atl last night!

Same issue here (I'm in PA near philly) same weather patterns. I think the crazy up and down weather we're getting is confusing the ecu. Once the weather gets consistently low then we'll see if it continues. It has been suggested to me a few times to try replacing the battery as well as the stock one is somewhat weak.

Yeah my car does this too, it seems if the heat is not on it doesnt die out. I was thinking maybe it had to do with the weight of the oil 10W-30. Im in ohio
