Default Cold weather start, idle speed problem

I have a MY2002 with 75K miles. I live north of Boston so its been pretty cold. Recently, on the first start of the day the idle has been cycling between 1500 to 1600. It just does this over and over and over. The first time it did this I tried to drive off, but I would get a few feet and the RPMs would drop and it would have stalled if I didn't push in the clutch. I was able to crawl back to my driveway and shut it off. I waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on and it idled fine and drove fine. The CEL light came on but I have not had the time to read the code. Now whenever it does this I just shut it down and start it back up and its fine. As soon as the weather warms up a little I will check the code, but in the meantime I was wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone?

there is absolutely no solid information any of us can give you without the code. please pull the code and post it here, and we'll let you know what to do.
