cold weather = starter noise threads
Its that time of year again. Cold weather starts to come in to many places in the US, and along with it many new threads from newish owners freaking out about the scary new noise they are suddenly hearing from the starter in the morning.
Anyone who has had their S for any length of time, and that lives where it gets cold, knows this is normal. But newb's don't yet. And the noise is scary enough for them to post, instead of doing a search.
So lets be patient with them. Let them know its normal. Let them know that if it starts happening when its not cold out, its a sign they will need a new starter soon. But otherwise don't fret over it. It will go away in the spring when it starts getting warm again.
Let them know this car doesn't love the cold. It will do fine just using the right tires for the weather, even snow is no problem (unless its deeper than ground clearance), it just doesn't love the cold.

Well, you can move down here to LA. Where there are only two seasons. Summer and Almost Summer.

My starter over-run happens all Summer long too.
Only when the car is warm from running does it not happen.
Mine's been doing it for years and don't think I'll be needing a new one any time soon.

I've been wanting to look at the starter overrun on my car for a while. It's been doing it here and there since I got it a year and a half ago. Eh, I guess I won't worry about it then if it's so normal.
