Cold Grind in 2nd
I just bought a 2005 s2000 a week ago with 39,000 miles. But whenever the car isnt heated up theres a slight grinding when i shift to second. It's not a bad grind but once my cars warmed up it doesnt seem to happen. A buudy of mine has an ap1 and says his does the same thing. Is this anything to worry about? Does anyone else's car do this?

I have a MY01 with 143,000 mi on it. I do not have the grinding and never had it. Tranny is original from day one, all original. I recommend you depress the clutch at least 90% in when shifting into 2nd. If you are already doing this then there are a few things that could be wrong. Check your fluid, clutch pedal free play and stiffness. If its too soft and/or it comes back up slower than usual, pressure plate might be going bad.
Only time I grind second gear is if I redline 1st and fail to either double clutch or depress the pedal 100% when going into 2nd.

row through the gears before you start the car. and flush your tranny and clutch fluid dont know how old that is. also make sure your clutch is being depressed fully (your mat isnt in the way or anything).

Yeah if it's notchy in the morning or cold then drive in first around 2000ish rpm and just let the oil get around there etc... I seem to do that from my house to the main road... around 45 secs at 10mph or something... and when i shift into 2nd for the first time it seems to be fine...
Otherwise if i try to go 1st to 2nd straight from the turn of the key it can be almost impossibl (or feel so bad trying to force it in so I dont)

The transmission in Hondas is really notchy when its cold, dont really know why. Best advice I can give is wait for it to heat up, swap transmission fluid with Amsoil MTF, and get an Ingalls ETD
