Default Code P0172 on a Vortech V2 Car

Check engine light came on this morning, scanned it to find P0172.

I understand this is a "too rich" code.

Car background: I notice boggy first gear starts from time to time, lots of exhaust smell (although the car has full exhaust w/ a gutted cat), and the car is running a Vortech V2SQ on stock injectors.

Any input on where this code could be coming from?

I'm guessing you're running a stock ECU?

Change your plugs and consider a tune.

Yes, from my understanding the ECU is from a 2002 into my 2000 with the Vortech supplied black box unit.

Without a tune, you'll be running rich down low and lean up top.

I can understand that, but why the sudden CEL?

I will reset and see if the light duplicates itself.
