Default clutch worn or what? please help

My friend checked his clutch fluid level and it was way below the Minimum level, car revs but the speedo does not move at all, I mean he revs it all the way to 6k rpm, steps on the clutch put in in 1st gear and the thing doesnt move. We filled the clutch fluid up and it finally moved only thing is it can only go up to 10 mph tops, Any suggestions on whats worng with it before bringing it to a mechanic?..many thanks

In addition to filling you have to bleed the line.

But that's not the problem since you use the clutch to disengage. With no fluid the clutch would remain engaged at all times.

Are you sure it's in gear? If so sounds like the clutch disk is shot.

Probably the throw out bearings, hefler shaft, tranny fluid, bell housing gasket, spark plugs, syncro drive anti-lock mechanism, the disk mounting adapter bracket and the pilot shaft. The mufflers have to be removed to perform the service so you may as well replace those while your at it too. A complete clutch job would include replacing the secondary as well as the third and fourth primary cog units along with the pressure sending units as well.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the tranny at this point in time either. Maybe the piston return springs as well. Shit, you should replace the wheel bearings as they have a direct correlation in the smooth proper function of a good operating clutch.

you've worn off all of the friction material on the clutch disk.
