clutch/tranny question

OK, I think we're dealing with two different topics here. If I understand this correctly (a better explanation would have gone a long way), you are pulling the shifter OUT OF GEAR yourself, without using the clutch, right? This is completely different from a gearbox that "pops" out of gear on its own, which is NOT a good thing. You are MAKING it come out of gear by choice and thus, has nothing to do with a good or bad tranny; good or bad clutch.
This is NO SURPRISE! It can easily be done. Taking the tranny OUT of gear without the clutch is nothing new. EVERY transmission can do this. In fact, if the revs are matched precisely, you can also put it INTO gear without use of the clutch, although neither is recommended due to the risks involved.
The above is NO indication of clutch condition. The key points that should direct you toward the clutch fluid is the statement that the friction point is rather high on the pedal travel.
As for whether or not the clutch is worn and needing replacement is a whole other set of tests. Let's get one thing straight before diving into something else that may or may not be related.

yes, that is correct. My tranny is not popping out of gear randomly. It can move out of gear when I pulling it out.
This is good news, my tranny is ok
The only question i have left is whether or not its time to replace my clutch. Its at 92k miles on the original clutch. The pedal engagement point is rather high which typically leads to a worn out clutch.
My other question is wouldnt a worn out clutch cause the clutch to "slip" when changing gears? My friend needs a new clutch and he knows that its worn because when shifting aggressively, clutch does not grab right away. With my clutch, it grabs pretty good still.
sorry if i caused much confusion earlier

My clutch (I'll get pictures) was VERY worn, very nearly hitting bolts. It never slipped once. Don't rely upon slippage to determine when it's time to change the clutch.

ok, its pretty much confirmed my clutch is worn then.
What sort of clutch is recommended? how much would it cost to replace, laborwise.
thanks!
