Default Clutch slipping?

I posted something a bit ago but got very few replies, did some more research and I just want to get some opinions.

I feel like my clutch is slipping, this is based off of the fact that I have very dramatic loss in speed.

Here's a better explanation:

I'll be at a stop light, the light will turn green and I'll accelerate in 1st gear. My foot could be on the floor but instead of speeding up like she should she will just creep up in speed. However the RPM's seem to climb as well though I've noticed maybe a small lag in that as well. Say for instance in 1st gear at 9k I'll be doing something around 30mph and normally I'd be doing much more.

Now my clutch disk is fairly new, as in November and not that many miles new. However I had crank walk and the car was in the shop. They took the engine out and did what was needed to be done. Now the problem has begun.

I haven't smelled burning clutch at all, however I have noticed once that I smelled burning oil pretty bad and it sure seemed like it was coming from my car. Though no smoke in the rear and it was only once in the past two days.

I'm thinking maybe they got oil on my clutch disk somehow? But that's my best guess.

PS: This is an Ap1 with 80k miles. Only an OEM clutch disk/Aftermarket pressure plate, Greddy TiC single catback exhaust, K&N FIPK.

So does anyone have any ideas or tests I could do to see?

Thanks!

If your rpm is rising and you aren't going anywhere, your clutch is slipping. Did you break in your clutch correctly?

^What he said. Best way to tell is to floor it low rpm and high gear. if revs climb quicker than speeding up than it is the clutch. Are you in a very hot climate by chance? Possibly heat soak you are experiencing?

Sounds like you need a new clutch plate and/or pressure plates / springs.

what did they do with your flywheel? if they over machined the friction surface without making a proportional reduction in the outer surface (to keep step height in spec), then there may not be enough tension between pressure plate and disc. a honda flywheel has two surfaces with two different heights-- the PP mounts to one and the disc makes contact with the other.

the other possibility is excessive grease on the splines which has been centripetally thrown onto the friction surfaces.

The crank walk ate the clutch disk, or they got grease on it. I installed the PP and disk originally before we realized he had a problem many months later. The clutch was never fully disengaging because of the rearward travel of the assembly. A different PP and clutch with a LWFW are going in along with a 3XXhp comptech kit. Mr2000 will be fast again.

The transmission will be on my shop floor in a week or so and we'll see what's up.

^^ SgtB greatest mechanic I know

So I tried a 4th Gear pull from 4k till about 80mph on the way back from my buddies tonight.

If there is clutch slipping it doesn't seem to be doing so much in 4th. I had WOT and she was creeping up in both RPM and Speed.

However in 1st gear my 9k is about 38mph and that if I'm lucky and it sure seems to take a while to get there.

Oh and my new SOS street clutch and Lightweight Flywheel will be here Friday! Woo!

We'll see what we can find. I'm hoping they got the timing right. Want to come by the 6th-7th and knock the swap out real quick? It's probably the only days I have. I'm doing the secondary bearings and prop shaft rebuild on my other two days. Empty your mailbox. It's full.
