Default Clutch Slave Cylinder Helicoil repair

Does anybody know if it's possible to use a helicoil insert to repair stripped threads for one of the two mounting bolts for the clutch slave? not sure if there's some clearance issues or anything on the inside and i'm not very familiar with helicoil anyways. I think my clutch installer may have overtorqued it because i was greeted with a shower of metal particles as i unbolted it to regrease it.

thanks in advance!

Yes a short heli-coil will work great.

Thread a long bolt into the GOOD hole.

Use this as a visual guide for the drill. Just make the drill bit and the long bolt the same angle. Your drilled hole will be good and precise.

Also, check the depth of the hole with any type of stick or rod, and mark the depth of the hole. Now mark the drill bit itself with the marker so you drill to the proper depth without going too far.

If trans fluid comes out of the hole=drilled to far

What probably happened is that the clutch slave was putting pressure on the bolt before it was threaded in properly. Make sure you relieve any pressure on the bolts while they are being started or it will continue to happen.

Thanks for the replies. I've been putting this off for quite some time and have everything ready in my Amazon cart, but I'm thinking now that there won't be enough space to drill the hole out.

I haven't gotten under the car to check, but from pictures online, it seems the transmission tunnel of the body would get in the way of a drill. Any advice on lowering the transmission enough to drill out the hole?

I was just thinking of dropping the transmission mount and hoping that it would give enough space.
