You need to remove the S/C to remove the transmission.

OT: For those who are S/C and want a clutch that isn't as heavy feeling as a full ACT setup, I went ACT pressure plate with OEM disc, felt firm but not overwhelming.

Just FYI to you the OEM disc is probably the same as the ACT street disc so it is essentially a full ACT setup.

I'm removing my transmission and looking at the steering column and the engine. I don't see why the steering joint needs to be disconnect to lower the engine and remove the transmission. Does someone understand why the steering column joint needs to be disconnected?

Because its attached to the sub frame which needs to be lowered 3 inches. Its no big deal to disconnect it, so just do it.

Brilliant thread guys!

My reverse switch seems to have soldered connections. Has it been repaired/bodged? I can't see how to remove it..any ideas?

The loom on the tranny took me hours to unclip and I still have 2 connectors left. Is it ok to lower the tranny and engine first to gain better access to them ?

(btw, the starter bolt is quite easy on UK cars as you simply lift the battery out and you can reach it with your hand...just)

FYI 06 don't have clips running along top center of the tranny. When I did my PP and clutch thanks to this thread alll the clips are along the side so they're easy to acess.

I lowered the engine and tranny to get to the top clips so you can do the same but luckily mine didn't have any.

You don't remove the reverse switch. You just unplug it's connector and leave it with the trans.
