I am impressed that a service writer stepped up to the plate. It seems hard to find those guys these days.

That is why I am my own service writer in my own garage!

Well, my wife tells me what to do with HER S2000. I just get to drive it.

At the very front of this thread you will notice I addressed the same missprint..

I notice you disconnect the PS electrical connectors, which I understand. My manual has a picture of a flange holder being used on the transmission (13-8 step 16) which I now know is a misprint and is really for transmission disassembly. That was initially part of my confusion.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. After reading things over (here and several other threads ) and having the parts sitting in my garage for 6+ months, I finally decided to change my clutch/flywheel. Everything went great, except for that d@mn starter mount bolt Here's a pic:

to all. Thanks again,
Kevin

This was a very helpful link. I also highly recommend the Helm's manual.

An additional tip - I had trouble getting my transmission back on the
engine - it would slide on most of the way, but there was still a 1/4" or so gap. After some frustration, it turned out to be the release fork being out of position.

The job is not that hard, but it is time consuming. Now that the weather is cooler, it will be only a weekend job. If you can get a helper, it will go a lot quicker. See my post on the turbo install. If I can be of help, let me know. I have the tool for locking the flywheel, and a cradle for lowering the engine subframe the required 3 inches.
