the early signs of a slipping clutch aren't always black and white and blatantly obvious
One day, you'll be merging onto the highway in 5th and notice the RPMs climb without the associated power behind it.
Other days, the same situation with slightly different weather and a different road inclination won't show any signs.
A hard clutch pedal is usually associated due to the clutch friction material mixing with the grease that lubricates the TOB and the extended TOB travel to disengage the clutch.
