Smile Clutch Problems

Ok Guys heres the deal. I Bought a SPEC Stage 1 Clutch kit for my S. I got the clutch and took it to a mechanic shop nearby whom im familiar with. They install the clutch and I pick up the car the next day, first thing I notice is how much it rattles. After Driving a few minutes I notice a weird and abnormal noise which sounds like something is loose, So I take it back to the shop and have the owner drive the car. After he starts the car he stalls, he gets going and is driving and I tell him that the noise appears after i let go of the gas or when im not pressing the clutch pedal so he tells me that my clutch kit is defective and I contact the company but all I get as response from them is that if it was defective the car wouldn't be drivable or it wouldn't go into gear. Now im pissed off and have no clue as to what my next step is, I figure getting another oppinion is my best bet so if anyone has any idea on what the problem could be PLEASE help.

Thank You

Narek

Dud I got the same problem. I put in a Stage 1 ACT with a Fidanza flywheel. It makes like a Buzzin sound when in gear and I let off the gas and the RPMs get between 2500 an 3100. Did you replace the throwout bearing at the same time?

The buzzing from decel is coming directly from the disc. What kind of discs are you guys using?

Billman, is that buzz a problem? My car buzzes on decel, but I driven several used S2000s and they all buzz on decel so I thought it was normal. Is it?

That depends on how loud it is. Mine started as a little noise that I had to listen for. Over time, it got louder and people would ask what was wrong with my car. I should have replaced the clutch disk sooner, rather than put up with a car that sounded like a poorly-built POS for a year or more. After the replacement, I actually like the car again. I just hope the fix is permanent: I've only got about 10k miles on the new disk. If the defective Genuine Honda OEM disk had made the noise at 10k miles, they would have had to replace it under warranty.

MY00 will have the Clutch Buzz on decel - it's a common problem
it's fixed once the clutch is replaced. Mine is HORRIBLE - Im getting the new clutch installed in the spring.

Anyway for these guys it's probably a different story.

Isn't this the spring buzz? Common and redesigned by Honda because the normal spring tolerance was amplified by the rigidity of the trans and the proximity to the driver.

I'm afraid to try any other disc than OEM, because they have been buzz free for 100% of 25+ installs.

Competition clutches on the other hand....NEVER again.
