Clutch or Pressure Plate Failure?!?!
Is it possible to have a bad pressure plate? My car has a HTG kit, (act pp,oem disc and comptech fly) with about 14k on it.
I was driving casually along, shifted into 3rd...then fixing to shift into 4th, when i noticed the clutch didn't disengage when i pressed the clutch in. I pressed again and the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. Pull it back up and i am still stuck in 3rd gear. So i drive to a parking lot then kill the ignition to stop.
I stopped, the shifter is out of gear but i can't press the clutch more than half way. it feels like something mechanical is blocking it.
I don't know what the issue is, but a few friends have told me the pressure plate failed. But i'm not sure.
At any rate, i think i'm out of warranty if its caused by the PP. The car is at honda waiting to be pulled apart.
Should i go with a completely new kit? or just replace the PP if the disc is fine?
btw - my car has 140k miles and N/A....and i don't drive hard.

Sucks, I would probably just get an OEM equiv replacement kit maybe Exedy OEM replacement, shouldn't be too much. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I know of a pretty good mechanic that can do a clutch for around $300.

I had this happen to me after I did the 'grease bearing, smooth nipple off slave cylinder'
the slave cylinder slipped out of the cup on the shift fork. Try check that first! might be a 10min job vs. doing entire trans.
why it would slip out if it was working fine, IDK...but it could be a possibility. for me, I didnt line it properly after greasing it, thats why it popped out.

140k mi, 7 years old... and you think you're out of warranty?
How long has the new clutch been in the car?

Honda pulled the transmission, and told me i had a broken shift fork and something else...*forgot* but they sent me a pic of the fork i guess.
They said i need a new clutch kit....Sooo should i go with the HTG kit again? or try something different. I was thinking Exedy but i want something with more pedal feel and holding power.
