Default Clutch pedal is weird..

My clutch pedal is just weird... It's normal when I press the clutch pedal in, to put the car in gear/change gear, but when I release the pedal, it feels like it goes out in 2 steps.. Hope someone understand what I mean. Is it ok, or is it bad? How can I fix it? Changed the clutch 5000km ago.

My guess is that the garage that installed your clutch didn't lube the release fork adequately. It's also possible that the splines on the shaft the throwout bearing rides on didn't get enough grease but since you don't have any problems pushing the clutch in, this should be fine. And since you're not mentioning any wierd noises, I'd assume the clutch plate is fine.

The good news is you can lube the release fork without removing the transmission. I'm not familiar with this procedure since I haven't done this myself but if you do a search, you will find several threads on the subject.

Other things to look at:
  • When you had the clutch replaced, did they replace the throwout bearing (also called a release bearing)? If not, let us know.
  • Check the clutch fluid to see if the level is not low and the fluid inside isn't black. There is an outside chance that your master or slave cylinder is binding, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to flush & replace your clutch fluid.

Thanks a lot! I'll check the fluid level and color as soon as possible. Any other tips? No sounds btw!

I had a similar problem and it ended up being my clutch fluid leaking and needed new clutch cylinders
