Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement
Hey All, the CMC on my 2002 is leaking.
Since the stock unit failed with less than 60k mi on it was wondering what to replace it with?
Is there an inherit flaw in the stock units and is there a better after market choice?
Thanks

How did it fail? I'm wondering, since there have been several of us recently that had low clutch fluid but no visible leaks, which would suggest a slow leak in the slave cylinder. Did you find dripping below the Master Cylinder?

As many have suggested, based on experience: change the fluid first.
Old, crappy, chunky fluid causes leaks.
If it still leaks with fresh fluid you could:
#1 - Buy a new one.
#2 - open up the old one and clean the seals, reinstall with fresh fluid - it may be what you need.
Okay.. if cleaing doesn't help you have to to the remove-install twice, but that's fun to do.. right?

@slalom44 -look inside the car, the back of the master cyl where the pedal pushes the pistin(inside the car) will show you if it is leaking.. I just replaced mine and did the slave at the same time.

Leaking above the clutch pedal - ya can see the fluid leaking around the rod...
