Clutch Master Cylinder going bad
Hello,
I have a MY02 S2000 and it has ~57k miles. I noticed that the clutch pedal feels softer when I press it in. Does anyone know why this happened. Could it be the way the drive? Or is it due to the age of the car? My brother had the same problem with his car about a week ago. He got the clutch master cylinder replaced.
Thanks

Clutch master is not the problem. the problem is there is no service interval for the fluid, and 95% of s2k cmc's leak because of it.
If your clutch pedal feels softer, check the fluid. If the level is ok, then it's your slave end and fork that need greasing. The pedal will go randomly from easy to hard, depending on where the fork is touching the bearing. Grease will cure it.

I checked the clutch fluid and it's below the min line. If I just add dot 3 brake fluid do I still need to replace the master cylinder?

Its a common problem on the S2000 for some reason.
MY01 has 150K miles and I still have the original master and slave cylinders. Common problem is for the Master to start leaking fluid out of the piston attached to the pedal but VERY VERY slowly and gets worse over time. But even that doesn't start until maybe close to 100K miles or so.
Good thing is that there is a DIY here for both master and slave replacement if need be and its not that hard to do.

Mines an 03, 115,000 miles. Original clutch and cylinders. Mostly freeway miles.
