Default Clutch job - how long does it take?

My mechanic is closing the doors on his shop, there goes my $200 clutch replacement :/ so either I do this on the floor, again, or I can try to take it to a place like uFixIt center and try to do it there. I am just curious about how many hours the job should take. Since I already sort of know what's going on, I think I can get it done quicker. Just curious.. or shall I save the money and try to get it done on my own?

Takes me 6-8 hours for a clutch job. This is using a floor jack and car on stands.

Actually im currently doing one, so far im roughly 4 hours in (2 hours a night after work) and i have the trans sitting back in the tunnel and took the clutch assembly off and the flywheel sent out to grinding.
Im guess another two hours to re-install. Now this is my first clutch on this car but ive done many on other cars so its something im used to.
I dont know how experienced you are with this operation.

off topic but if anyone could answer this, why do all the guides say to actually drop the trans? I took mine off and set it back in the chassis, and theirs plenty of room to get into the flywheel and clutch assembly.
