Default clutch issues, please help

every since I got my s2k (had 103k on it) the clutch has been alittle wierd. The previous owner said he put a stage 2 in it at 90k although I'm not sure of the brand. The car now has 116k on it. Over the summer the clutch would sometimes feel stiffer then others but always seemed to grab good and barked second with ease.

Well...

I just got in it, at 3 bars on the temp gauge it's hard to put it into reverse and 1st. Although when driving upshift go into gear just fine. The first 1/2 of pedal movment doesn't disengage the clutch at all. What got me to noticing the clutch issue was my shifts were more grabby (like a no off switch) rather then smooth transitions like they use to be.

What do you guys think is going on?

it could be a number of issues but have you check your fluids ie clutch fluid.

I would first start with checking to see if the clutch master cylinder is leaking. Go inside the car and feel the carpet under the clutch pedal, also feel on top of the dead pedal. If it is wet with brake fluid the CMC is leaking and that is the issue. You have a MY00, it is not un-common for it to go bad. if it is not leaking I would change the fluid and bleed the system.

Here is a DIY on the CMC change if is not leaking then just go to the bleed http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=15696.

Good luck.

Kevin

Sounds like it could be low clutch fluid as a result of a leaking master. My car was doing the exact same thing a couple months ago, and turned out to have a leaking clutch master.

I was just about to post the thread that mlc linked to.

I checked it and it there was very very little fluid in it. I filled it back up and it worked perfect again. I guess I need a new cmc. I'm going to replace the slave cylinder also just to freshin things up.

thanks,

josh

I didn't change my slave so I am not sure if the little shaft inbetween the slave and the fork is included if not you should do this as well while you have it off https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=370792. Also make sure you do a good bleed of the system afterwards.

Good luck.

This issue maybe involving 1/2 half way on the pedal being limp which does nothing when pressed, this is a brake fluid issue..Check for leaks, and top it off, or you may have air in your clutch lines..
