Then how to make this work? Any M13 bolts or I'll have to use the tap and die tool?

I'll take a picture if I have a chance to pull the transmission tonight. However, I have tried the long bolt (M12x80) and feel it's tight when it gets deeper. I did not thread it anymore since I'm afraid it will damage the engine block.

I have an idea, can I cut the M12x80 bolt, to be M12x70 which is longer than the OEM size M12x65?

Thread diameter alterations require drilling to the correct size (check the drill sizing chart for threaded holes) and then thread tapping.

photos of the threads will help.

But...yes...you can cut bolts. Thread a nut onto the bolt first. Then cut. The cut will damage the threads. Then spin the nut off the bolt to "repair" the threads near the cut.

Then this becomes harder. I'm thinking of, would it possible to add some "fat" washers to make the long bolt M12x80 shorter, or cut it shorter to, between 65 to 80 mm

leaving the top bolts out is not unsafe but since you had to drop the trans again to fix the flywheel washer you might as well fix it all.

Updated: last night I was able to remove the transmission and clutch/flywheel. I also took some photos of the top bolts holes... Any suggestions?

Top left hole

top right hole

Also I have some questions about the ACT pressure plate. In my case I use OEM clutch disk, OEM throw out bearing, OEM flywheel AP1(re-surfaced by experienced shop). I torque the PP bolts to be factory spec 19ft/lbs. But I notice the diaphragm springs did not tilt outwards which made the clutch fork pull not possible. Read the ACT instruction again and it says 8mm bolts should be torque to 25 ft/lbs. Was that the cause or some defects with this pressure plate? I checked the step of the flywheel and should be OK

My installation of PP, the diaphragm springs did not tilt outwards

Checked some youtube video and the correct installation should look like this

My flywheel

Updated: I have re-installed the flywheel (with washer) and PP again. This time it looks much better.

One note I would like to share is, there are 3 dowel pins in the flywheel wheel, which needs to align exactly to the pressure plate. I'm suspecting last time when I installed the ACT pressure plate, the pins were not aligned so that the PP did not fully press the clutch disk so that the diaphragm spring did not tilt up. Please note that the distince between each dowel pin to the thread hole is not the same so you'll have to rotate and try different positions until all the dowel pins slide into the PP perfectly.
