Clutch Help
#32
So after bleeding and refilling I noticed it was definitely a steady leak. I ended buying a new CMC offline and bringing the car to a reputable shop to install. Got the car back today...Everything seems good other than the amount of clutch play before engagement. I'm wondering if it is just in my head because I have been driving my manual Acura for so long...Is there anyway to adjust this clutch play or should I just deal with it? Is this going to affect anything else with the car if this amount of clutch play is abnormal? Thanks for all the help!

It sounds like the reputable shop didn't do the best bleed job in the world. You could keep pumping the clutch pedal, the line isn't a double flared stainless steel main line like our breaks but just a flexible hose, since the hose deflects it's tricky to bleed the system perfectly especially if you're doing a manual bleed. This is because the hose expands just a little. Anyway, just gravity bleed it one time, or just keep driving the car a bit it'll get better. I would not adjust the clutch pedal for anything more than setting about a 1/2" pedal of free play. Let it engage where it engages.

Either or, there's no booster used to activate the clutch. The only difference is that the release bearing isn't spinning. And since there isn't a rubber seal/gasket like on the brake master, pumping the pedal can work a little bit of air out of the system and improve feel.
