Clutch gone.

one thing that kept my clutch from disengaging at one point was a metal reinforcement piece broke off from the friction disc, and lodged itself between the pressure plate and the friction disc, keeping it pressed up against the flywheel

nope, no sounds at all in my case
the piece that broke off mine was this piece:
it sits outside one of the 4 springs, looking from a side view:
here you can see where the piece came from
if you look closely, you can see where the piece was digging into the PP
anyway, yeah, it got stuck in there, keeping pressure against the friction disc, in turn keeping the disc in contact with the flywheel, meaning it never wanted to disengage. made for un-fun shifting

So i'm guessing that it stuck there so didn't make a noise? Am i guessing it right? If it is...that's kinda scary tho. When i broke my pilot blushing it made awful sound but it was easier for me to find a problem tho.

Good luck.
FWIW, a piece of metal on my Integra clutch disk broke off. It held in one of the springs in the disk. Sometimes, I could shift normally; other times the pedal fought back and I had to shift without the clutch. I couldn't figure it out until I took the transmission off. I know this isn't what you want to hear.
