slalom44,

Do you think this is related to the sticky clutch pedal problem? My clutch pedal feels like its in a bind sometimes while both depressing and releasing it. I've regreased everything under the dash with no releif.

Suggestions?

MyBad; it sounds more like a spindle that is in need of grease as Xviper mentions.

xviper, its an 02 and hasn't had any clutch work at all. The car has been autox'd and DE tracked a bit. But I would think it reasonable for the clutch plates to be wore out long before a throwout bearing failure.

Jeesh. Glad it worked out, but what could have been wrong with the flywheel?

there were "hotspots" on the flywheel and clutch plate that would have been a problem if just the clutch plate was replaced.

He said the throw out bearing was dry as a bone... And that my driving habits/style were the likely cause of the problem... I really couldn't argue that. Didn't tell him about all the track events and autox's...

Well, you could have but I understand why you didn't (track).
When will they learn to schlopp a bit of grease on that spindle? I even recall seeing a post here that Honda sent out a memo to their service people about doing this on all clutch jobs - just can't remember exactly where, though.

Oh great! Something else to look forward to. Maybe they'll put out a TSB - (typed with a "wishful thinking" sorta grin).
