Default clutch engagement point

ok.. i got my s2k about 2 months ago, it had 41k on it then, and now it has 43k

i recently noticed that the clutch engagement point feels like its lower than it was when i first got the car

I changed the clutch fluid when i first got the car

it engages and disengages perfectly, it's just the engagement point is very low

is this a signal that my clutch has a problem??

Please help!

Thank you

I assume that by lower you mean closer to the floor. Also assuming you are not loosing any clutch fluid anywhere. If you have the original clutch, this is a possible indication that the pressure plate could be going out, specially if the clutch doesnt slip when trying to redline first gear.

I found mine to be overly low when I got my car, a 2 minute adjustment by making the clutch rod longer is all it takes to raise it up a bit. Use a 12mm wrench to loosen the locknut, turn the clutch rod clockwise when looking at the firewall a couple of turns. Tighten the locknut. Test it out and re-adjust if necessary. Mine is much easier to drive after the adjustment, it can also help to make shifting smoother in some instances.

The locknut wont move by itself. There is still a problem there.

did this ever get resolved?

im on s2000.com running through this crud and i just changed the clutch fluid on my MY00 and now the engagement point is a few noticeable inches less than before my issue....the cylinders were not leaking and arent now, every gear shifts smoothly NOW, including reverse, but my clutch feels kind of "spongy" and not tough like the clutch pedal used to a week and a half ago...guys im tryin to figure it out over there so if you can help out here or there that would be very much appreciated, thanks

What are the consequences of adjusting the clutch engagement point super low...as in 3 inches from the floor? Any additonal wear on the master cylinder, pressure plate, clutch?

I did experiment with this once and the gear change was super quick.
