Default Clutch catch feeling numbed?

Since this is my first manual car and Im not the original owner, I'm not sure if its just "supposed to be this way" or if there's something physically different about the clutch recently.

Normally when I start from dead, I let out the clutch until I can physically feel the clutch bite through the cluth pedal, give it some gas and slowly let off the clutch fully. Usually this results in a slightly shutter when taking off at first. So to eliminate that, I practiced letting out the clutch and giving it some gas at the same time eventually getting it to the point where I can shift into 1st smoothly without that extra shuttering/jerk.

Fast forward to this weekend, I'm letting out the clutch in first and I realized I no longer feel the plate "bite" through the pedal anymore. I thought I hadn't let it out to the right point so I let it out some more, then stalled the car. Few moments later, same thing happened, let out the clutch didn't feel that "bite", let out too much and stalled the car.

Figured out that might as well give it gas trying to ignore the fact that i couldn't feel the clutch bite and shifting was smooth again.

However, I'm curious now as to what may have happened to my clutch? It doesn't seem like its slipping in anyway and the car only has 23K miles on it. I'm enjoying the really smooth shifting but curious as to why I lost that feeling when the clutch plate bites.

as with any clutch issue most people reccomend checking master cylinder fluid levels, also check behind the clutch pedal visually for leaks. You may need need fluid, a bleed, or have an air bubble in there. Check out Billman250s clutch bleeding thread, you can find it using search, its a sinch and worth doing anywway!

Should note that the clutch res looks clean and that I've routinely swap the fluid.
