might be tough to see, this is adjusted so that the rod is firm, but not pushing on anything.

the rod is only half way threaded into the bracket. If this is normal, then everything is Golden Grahams

Another result of this adjustment is that CMC plunger is pushed in SLIGHTLY. If I turn the rod counter clockwise I get a ton of slop, if I turn it clockwise until the slop is gone in the rod, it looks like this:

Pushed in slightly is correct.

Yes, there is a pedal height adjustment that has nothing to do with rod length.

Its a pedal stop up under dash. Its in the service manual. There is a spec on how high pedal is supposed to be.

They mention the spec on 12-7 (Transmission section) of the 00-08 Service Manual. But the only talk of how to adjust the pedal is based around the CMC rod. Is there another place in the manual to look?

Same problem after I replaced my clutch. My job included resurfacing the flywheel. I first assumed the amount cut from the face of the flywheel resulted in more travel for the TOB to reach the PP and therefore more play in the system. A replacement of the clutch fluid and a vigorous bleeding of the system actually helped a bit, but like you, I’m at the end of my adjustment range.

What I found was to get most of the play out of the clutch, the rod had to be backed almost all the way out of the U-shaped joint in the pedal... I think when I finally had the play to just about a 1/2 inch, the rod threading was only engaged about 2-3 threads.

Is there some other adjustment point I’m not making use of? It seems like there is a TON of thread to make the clutch more sloppy, but not nearly enough to firm it up.

Any ideas?
How's the shifting? Grinding gears?
