Default Clunking sound when braking

Hi All,

I'm stuck! Theres been a clunk...clunk...clunk sound coming from the rear passenger area for a while now. It only seems to happen once i've been driving for a while and when under braking. I've taken it into a Honda garage twice, they've taken the calipers etc off and cleaned...and its still happening, and the garage say they cant find to problem.

Has anyone got any suggestions? At least then I can tell the garage to check it out (educate them

Standard exhaust - car hasn't been modified. Just had a thought that it could be the CV joint? Would this co-incide with the noise etc?

thanks

I believe you are correct sir. The reason I asked was because I had my share of diff axle problems and the first thing that comes to mind is the cv joint (inner connected to the differential), but one day I was driving in traffic and kept hearing that. I panicked and brought the car home, jacked it up and it turned out that the exhaust was banging againts one of the bolts that connects the axle to the diff. I just ordered a new Honda exhaust donut and problem was solved.

Jack up the rear and grab the inboard cv joint and see how much play there is by twisting and sliding it in and out. You should be able to feel it. If not, do a search on how to replace the axles, do them both and put the car in gearr on the jackstands. That will tell you if the deff is ok.
