Default Clunking sound at 12mph during cold starts

Hey guys,

I have an '06 S2K with 50,xxx miles. My car makes one clunk sound when it speeds up to 12mph during cold starts (sitting for at least 5 hours). It doesn't matter if I'm in gear, neutral, or if the clutch is depressed. It sounds more mechanical than electronic but I'm no expert.

Anybody have any ideas? Is there anything in the car that activates/deactivates at 12mph? **I've read that it can be ABS selfcheck...does everybody hear this?***

Thanks,
Vin

Thanks. I'll look into that this weekend. Is this normal? Anybody else have this issue? The clunk sounds off at exactly 12mph after a cold start. After the initial clunk, the car sounds fine whenever I pass 12mph.

I had a creaking noise on my 03 which turned out to be an axle nut which backed off and this is common on s2k.s

Vehicle stability control activation? Our '06 Odyssey w/ VSC does this.

I've been hearing this for a while (which I'm thinking is approximately since the first time I bled my brakes)...maybe.

Anyway, yes, it happens at exactly 12mph, every cold start. So I'm definitely thinking it's an ABS or VSC activation.
I'll try it with the VSC off tomorrow to see if it still happens.

Glad I'm not the only one this happens to!

Is it the parking brake releasing? Try leaving it (somewhere safe) without the parking brake maybe...

This is most likely it. My 06 and current 09 both do this.

Vsa wasn't my issue; sure enough as I expected it WAs the axle nut even though it's an 06. Performed the tsb and sound went away.
