'clunk' sound under minor suspension flex
I recently lowered my AP2 with my old AP1 Espilir ASD springs on OEM suspension/wheels. Since then i have had a consistent 'clunk' sound, from what seems to be from the front, under SLIGHT road imperfections. The suspension only flexes a minor amount and under a soft, non-violent, road surface change.
I have had the car on a lift and re-checked all the bolts holding the suspension and they are all tight. The springs are properly seated in the perches/top hats as well. I've even lowered the car, while on the lift, and placed a structure underneath the tire to simulate compression to duplicate the noise ... and it WON'T do it!!
I also had the car professionally aligned by a dealer and asked the technician to look for anything that could be causing this noise (Acura Master Tech and good friend). We both couldn't find anything and even while driving can hear the noise but have a hard time determining where it originates or if it resembles any known noise/feel.
It did subside for a few days this last weekend and i thought maybe something just needed to 'seat' itself properly. But yesterday it started again (with no weather or driving condition changing).
Does anyone have an idea what makes a heavy 'clunk' sound
thanks in advance ...

Lift the car up, get someone to twist the wheels. My friend had something like this happen on his 240. Turned out it was the entire subframe shifting. If its not that, Im not sure. Sounds like you already made sure its not the spring reseating itself.

thanks for the input ... if it gets warm enough today i'll probably just pull the entire thing apart and re-install it.
I'll be sure to check the subframe bolts as well ... that is a possibility

Scooter, when you torqued everything down did you put weight on the suspension, ie use a jack on the knuckle to lift the car off the jack stands?
Also, did you notice if the rubber gasket that goes between the top hat and the spring was torn?
Last thing...if the spring wasn't seated in the knotch in the top hat it will make a popping sound.
