Default clunk from rear end?

the deal is, every time i launch, whether it be a hard launch, or not, i hear a thunk coming from the rear wheels. i cant tell if its from both, because i only hear it when the top is down, and it sounds like it comes from driver's side rear wheel, because it comes from outside the car. the clunk is the same sound like when your brakes rust together, and when you break them loose, and i hope someone here at least knows what that sounds like. anyone have any idea what causes this? is it causing damage?

Do you preload the drive train before you launch the car?

Before you take off, do you engage the clutch, and roll the car a little? What you want to do is get everything in the drive train to be under a load position before you take off. By doing this you prevent the hard clunk sound you here.

Out of interest, what causes the clunk when you pull away?
