Default Clicking Upon Shifting

When i shift into first gear there is a clicking coming from, what i think is, the rear axle.
Not sure if this happens during every gear, as it is not loud enough to hear while moving.
It doesn't happen when I come to a stop.
I really have no idea what is causing it, I haven't had it checked out yet, thought I'd try here first.

Any guesses?????

thanks
brendan

no it's not. thanks for the reply, but it's a little different.

if i am at a stand still, engage the clutch, slip into first, i'm ok.
it's when i actually pull away, then there is a click, not a clunk.

it's as if the momentum of pulling away is pulling the drive shaft out of the rear diff. obviously that's an exaturation, but i can't figure out what the noise is.

thanks again

Ahhh, then I believe you have the well noted loose hub nut syndrome. There is a Honda TSB out on this. They undo your rear hub nuts, grease it all up and then re-tighten using a much higher torque setting (220 vs 181). Most report this fixes the problem but a few have noted that after a while the click comes back and new rear hubs or new bearings or both will be needed.
