Clicking sound from rear
I usually ride with my top up, so I always get the clicking sound from the rear which really sounds like it's coming from the rear axle area. I know there is a fix to regrease the spindle nut and retighten it. I was planning on doing this soon.
The noise is apparent when I am making sharp turns, hitting bumps on the road, going up driveways, and rolling over speed bumps. It will creak/click pretty much everytime I hit imperfections in the road. It also creaks when I jack the car up on the passenger side as I noticed when I changed my oil last week.
BUT when the top is down, no noise at all. I have many speed bumps leading to my apartment in my complex and every bump is made without a single noise. I can drive anywhere with any imperfection in front of me without hearing a thing. What could be the problem? Could it be associated with the soft top?

I have the same issue right now but I don't know if itz your suspension or same as my problem. Whenever I have the top up I'd hear click and a shewwish noise as if something was sliding and bumping around (during turns). But whenever I have the top down the noise would stop all together. I have thought something in the trunk was moving around or perhaps something under the rear of the car was loose. On farter inspection is was something else. There is a long plastic cover that bolts onto the rear section of the area where the top folds into. It is fastened by three plastic bolts and one on top. The cover has somehow came loose and was sliding in the rear and bumping into interior of the area where the top folds into. But I didn't hear the sound when the top was down because the top folded onto the cover and prevented it from moving around. Check if a plastic cover has deteched itself from the siding in the interior of the rear top foldin area. I'm waiting for replacement clip and bolt so I can fix it. Hope this helps.

WPS, I purchased the felt sticker pieces and placed it in the exact spots that you specified. I did have wear marks in those areas, but this wasn't what was causing the noise.
I also do not have the spare tire in my car and no rear plastic tray where the top folds down into. I took all of that out. It's a really weird sound that seems to be coming from within the car behind me, but I just can't spot it. But I get NOTHING when the top is down. I would hit different parts of the top, but nothing rattles when I do this.

Tried it.
It just seems to be coming from within the space where the top folds down into. I wonder if the sound simply is blocked by top being folded or if the top actually is the problem. My quest will still continue...
Thanks for all your help though.
