a clicking noise can come from your brake pads, or clutch, or any other loose suspension bolts or mounts, usually it's not as loud as the clicking sound that people with the axle nut problem experience. The axle thing is a known prob, its a honda tsb. its worth a try to fix. there's no cost if you can do it yourself. All you need is some grease and a torque wrench that goes up to 220lb. Just take off the wheel center cap, remove the axle nut, grease, then replace the nut and torque down to 220 lbs i think. hardest part will be finding a torque wrench big enough if you dont already have one.

I was going more for the incorrect (politically and by definition), controversial, elementary definition.

All quality 1/2 drive torque wrenches go up to 220lb-ft; I've even seen some beam-type 1/2 drives that go that high. Complete piece of crap, but if it works it works.

I use neither, though, because my right arm is calibrated from 20-450lb-ft, with >96% accuracy. My fingers are accurate to 0.010in, as well.

When it slides fore and aft in the caliper, it clicks when it crashes to a stop within the caliper body. Usually only heard when backing up in a 3-point turn, or when you drive forward and reverse within a single "maneuver."

I should have asked you to torque it down for me then... I ended up paying $100 at sears for a torque wrench that went that high, most i found only went to about 150 lbs.

how does a brake pad click???
apparently if the pad is loose it can make a clicking noise, most people would probably just experience squealing. I have never had that happen myself. But that is what the dealer told me. i took my car in because of the rear wheel bearing problem, they said clicking could be the brakes, and the groaning was the bearing. So they replaced the brake pads, both rear bearings and hubs, and $900 later the groaning was gone and i still had clicking. I just re-torqued the axle nut and the clicking stopped, and now hopefully this wheel bearing last.
