clicking noise

Default clicking noise

i hear a clicking noise everytime the clutch is disengaged and it sounds like its coming from directly under the shifter. any ideas?

more details.. does it happen when the tranny is spinning? does it happen when you first depress the pedal, in the middle, or when the clutch is fully disengaged? it could be a completely normal noise

only one click, just after the clutch is released. not continuous

it's the sound of your clutch fork working.
if it's excessive, your throw out bearing may need to be replaced.

its just like a loud click...ive only had FWD cars before so its possible ive never heard it before if its something the S's and other RWD cars do.

no, way off. the buzz is on decel. it's not a clicking when you use the clutch pedal. totally different.

ok now tonight, it sounded like it was coming out of the center rear of the car. ... any thoughts?

I used to have a CRX, the transmission on the CRX was mated to the engine in front of the passenger compartment. The shifter was connected via the shift rod under the car. The S2000's shifter goes straight into the transmission which is directly beneath it. Is it possible you are just hearing the gear engage inside the transmission?

EDIT: that is to say, in a fwd car the click from engaging a gear would come from the engine compartment not the transmission tunnel right next to you.

EDIT: now I feel like fool I see you are talking about the clutch. sorry.
