Uh-oh. It looks like they put a TRANSMISSION fluid into your diff. That's almost as dumb as when Honda dealers put in VTM-4 fluid into the S2000 diff. I think your LSD is toast.
I'm afraid you are in for some big $$$$$ repairs. Maybe you can get whoever put this stuff in to pay for a new diff.

I called Spugen, turns out the fluid is rated from GL-2 to GL-5 if that is possible. I'm going to buy some Mobile one and take it down to them and have them drive it.

Anyone have any experience in this? Is this a Honda warrenty covered thing if under 36,000 miles?

Thanks!

Not if they deem that the fluid or abuse caused the damage.

Just got back from Spugen. I had them put in the Mobile fluid. The noise didn't quiet at all. So I'll be taking my baby to the dealership on Monday. I am very sad..

Here's hoping the warrenty covers whatever the repairs are.

It probably isn't your diff, its most likely is your drivers side rear CV joint. I just bought my s2k about a month ago and I have the same noise when i take a hard right turn. I was going crazy at first because i thought it was my diff as well. After doing a lot of research, someone clued me in on this:

It's wierd that its happening on a 2005, you would think Honda would have fixed the problem, but I would say that is most likely what it is.

So did the new CV fix your ticking?
See, what we've got here is a near brand new 2005. Although it's possible that the CV may have been damaged from launching and doing donuts, it's still a bit of a new car to have this happen. Having an inappropriate fluid in the diff, however, can ruin a diff very quickly.
Also, a bad CV is usually associated with some significant vibration upon moderate acceleration. Is this a symptom?

The symptoms HoshNasi is describing seem to be exactly what the TSB about the cv joint describes. I just got my car recently, so I don't know nearly as much about these as you do, but why would the sound come only fromt the right side and only when taking right turns? Wouldn't it make noise on any hard turn? Anyhow, if it is still under warranty, I would try to get honda to replace the cv joint anyhow and see if that fixes the problem.

The snow came early this year so I had to garage the car already. I'm planning on doing the CV joint first thing this spring. And I definetley have the vibration that you are talking about. It's annoying as hell.
