Clickin from the rear end.
I have noticed over the past couple weeks that every morning when I leave my house as I back outta the garage and then pull away from the driveway I hear a clickin sound coming from the rear. It almost sounds like when you have a messed up axle on a front drive car and u take off while turning the wheel. I know thats a random description but thats what it reminds me of. Seems to only do it for the few mins in the mornin and like when i leave work in the afternoon. Or it could just be that those are the only spots quiet enough for me to actually here it. Any ideas? I noticed someone a few days back mentioned greasin the splines. Does that mean where the axle goes into the hub or what?
Oh btw, its a 05 with 45k and had the rear diff fluid changed at 38k.

I have an 05 with 46,000 miles and it does the same thing.
I think what they mean is where the nut connects to the axle by the brakes.
so if you were to take the center cap off your rim it would be that nut behind there.
Im still thinking about doing this, but I think its my gears that are going.

Hi,
My s did the same thing. You need to remove the rear rims and retorque the rear axle nuts to a higher torque. You will need to unstake them as well. I still had my warranty when I had it done and it's pretty much went away. I would get this fix as it you can damage the diff in the long run. The click should sound like two cue balls knocking into each other. Thanks.

Does sound to me exactly like the issue S2000 x describes above. I had the same issue with mine. Was visulising all sorts of major things going wrong but turned out it was the rear axle hub nuts.
Plenty of posts on it here. Very cheap job to fix

They came from the factory at 180 foot pounds and they revised it to be torquered to 220 foot pounds. Most people just either rent a big torque wrench or a good impact wrench for the job.
I would definitely try this before buying new axles.

having the same issue with MY05 at 50k, I'm actually getting ready to tackle the job tomorrow and hopefully it will resolve the issue. Ill post up and let you know how it turns out.
on that note, is there anything else i should be looking for? is it as simple as taking the wheel off and retorquing? Also i read a few posts, and i believe that its a 36mm nut at 220lbs, is that correct?
