Click from rear when turing hard right
hey guys,
I keep on getting a clicking noise when i make hard right turns. Over the summer when i first heard it I noticed that some boot thing was leaking water. Took it to the dealer and they said it was some sort of boot and it would cost about $400 to change.
I'm curious, is it really the boot? and is it really $400?

Clicking when doing slow, hard turns is often associated with worn CV (Constant Velocity) joints. They do have boots, but they would leak special CV joint grease, not water. If the CV joint boot is indeed torn, and you didn't replace it and re-lube the joint last summer, your symptoms are typical. The joint transfers power to the rear wheels and is under a lot of stress.
It's very unusual for S2000 boots to tear. Do you know how it became damaged?
Since you did not replace the boot and have the joint serviced last summer, you will now likely have to replace the joint. The repair may wind up costing a lot more now, especially if you take it to the dealer. Try finding a used (good condition) 1/2 axle and replace the whole thing.

i think it is the CV boot. When something was leaking, i touched it and it didnt seem like it was oil. The color was redish but that was probably because of the rust. i have about 50k miles on my s and its dropped about 1.5 for 2 years now.
