I used foam cleaner from trueflow, the kn filter cleaner is for paper based element but it will work though

the k&N is cotton based, you can't clean paper based(like oem) filter since the pore would shut itself(even if it looks clean and all, the air flow is negected)

some of the foam element is not washable/reuseable(for example, HKS), if comptech has a kit for you, use that instead.

i have k&n filter oil on my comptech filter not much of a problem except i kind of sprayed to much oil on the filter so there's a nice wet oil spot on the bottom of the filter. nothing has happened so i assume its fine. but this does remind me i need to clean my filter too. haha

my main point is why? if comptech make a sepecrific oil and cleaner for the element, why not just get that? beside the material is totally different, foam vs cotton.

they might look similar but you can't tell what's in it unless you have it break down(pay a few buck to o-chem student )

unless they are discountinued or something.

over oiling is bad for the sensor in the manifold, it's imfamous for killing MAF(which we dont have) but the all excess oil is going straight to the manifold and put a fine coat of oil there.
