Default Clean the throttle body

I also went to honda and got my brake and clutch fluid changed. They wanted $280 just to clean the Throttle body and the fuel injectors. SO I said **** YOU (not really) and stopped at Advance auto parts and bought a 20 oz bottle of Techron Fuel System Cleaner and some throttle body cleaner. Put the Tachron in my half a tank of Chevron 93 octane fuel. Oh yeah and I also washed and waxed the S2K. I am ready to do some Vtec'in!

I took apart the air intake and separated it from the throttle body. Then I took some throttle body cleaner and sprayed a very good amount (1/4 of the can) into the throttle body and all over the butterfly. I connected everything back together ( except for the plastic cover for the stock air intake) and waited about 10 minutes before restarting the car.

I went to start the S2k and it didnt want to start (gee I wonder why ). So it took about 5 tries and then finally she turned over and let out a lovely odor (for car fanatics). Reved her up for about 30 seconds and let her idle for another 5 minutes and put the plastic cover back on. I think that throttle body should be squeaky clean .

So now that I am broke and tired I am off to eat and take a nap.

You can actually do this with the car running. Let it idle and keep spraying the can into it until the car almost dies, then slow down. You can go through an entire can if you want. People have even done it with carb. cleaner too!

Another option would be to put Seafoam in a spray bottle and spray into the TB. I plan on trying this with my CR-V (probably next spring).

A good TB cleaner is X66 from AC Delco

Spray this into the TB with the motor off and wipe the throttle blade clean. You can also spray some past the blade into the intake. Start it up and continue spraying till the motor dies out. Let it sit then start it up again and let it idle. You might get some strange looks from the neighbors though from all the smoke your creating.

As part of a fuel injection service at a dealership they'll spray the intake and TB down with a similar product as sea foam. They will aslo run the car entirely on fuel injector cleaner, which does a tremendous job at cleaning the fuel injectors. Last i checked it was around 160 to 180 for the service. You can do the first half of it yourself for 5 bucks at the auto store.
