i found it fairly easy to fix mine, esecially since i used to take apart my car daily to work on the stereo.
this should work on any model year to my knowledge.
start by popping of the center shifter trim/ arm rest , then the panel behind each seat with the hooks on them. you should now be able to pop the glovebox/ secret compartment panel enough forward that you can easily access the back of the cigarette lighter. i tightened mine and applied some glue to make sure it wouldnt do that again.

Just fixed mine in <10 minutes (after several months of avoiding it). Removed the vented panel on the driver's side, as in the posted link above. Two 8mm hex screws secure the hooks and the vented panel. One more screw allows you to lift the edge of the compartment and get your hand to the back of the socket.

Move the passenger seat up. the two hooks behind the seat (on the back panel ) can be removed with a nut driver (10mm i think) just pull on the flap on the bottom of the hook and the bolt will be exposed. Pull off the panel, then you can reach behind the glove box area and tighten the metal body onto the power adapter itself. kinda hard to reach behind it, but I had the same problem, and this fixed it. some people put stuff on the threads to hold it better, just dont use anything permament, just in case you ever want to remove it in person. 
This is the easiest way. 5 minute fix.

Mine did to....I just wrapped a piece of tape around it and suck it back in, till I have actual time to fix it! You can't see the tape and it hasn't came back out?
